Backpack Program
August 30, 2018
All elementary students are invited to participate in the Heartland Backpack Program. Participating students receive a food pack referred to as a “backpack”. Items in the backpacks are often microwavable meals, shelf-stable milk or juice, dry cereal and fruits.
The goal of the program is to encourage students to be active and eat a variety of foods. Each week, backpacks are delivered to one or two classrooms.
There is no cost to participate. This grant is funded by Woodhouse Ford in Omaha.
