Testing Out of College Classes (CLEP Testing)
January 01, 2019
Seniors may take advantage of the CLEP testing program. The CLEP program offers high school students a chance to test out of college classes and earn college credit. Interested students must first check with their future college to be certain the institution recognizes and accepts CLEP testing. Then the student arranges with a local community college testing center and signs up for the specific tests. Each test will cost. After passing the test, the students are given information to take to the college registrar’s office. There is usually a small fee to have the appropriate college credit placed on the college transcript. Testing fees and registrar’s fees never amount to the cost of taking the course and purchasing books. Practice CLEP tests and supporting material may be found at www.collegeboard.com/student/testing/clep/about.html.
